JOB TYPE: Part-time, flexible except for scheduled events, 10-20 hrs. per week
PAY: Hourly $20.00-$22.00 DOE
DESIRED START DATE: ASAP
PROBATIONARY PERIOD: Six months after start date
LOCATION: Ability to work at our office in Cedar Crest, NM, locations in the East Mountains,
and supporting programs expanding into ABQ. A portion of computer work can be done offsite to
make this position hybrid.

About Talking Talons Youth Leadership (TTYL)
TTYL is a small nonprofit with personally motivated, long-term staff and volunteers. Our mission is to
elevate youth and the community to become effective advocates and ethical stewards of themselves,
wildlife, habitats, and the environment. We empower youth to find their voices and lead solutions to
climate change. The Board and leadership are continually supporting employees to find a healthy

Key Responsibilities:
• Support Program Educators at scheduled events after-school and on Saturdays
• Kindly support youth while maintaining behavioral management
• Share knowledge and enthusiasm about local environmental issues
• Create environmental outdoor curriculum for ages 10-18
• Teach lessons with a Program Educator Assistant
• Prepare, load, and unload supplies for events (up to 25 lbs.)
• Attend Team and Program meetings• Desire availability for 1x/year Summer Camp (June 15-18, 22-26, 2026)
• Other duties as asked
Minimum Qualifications and Abilities:
• Passionate about climate change issues and the environment
• Enjoy working with and experience teaching youth (5th to 12th graders)
• Has a confident voice with youth
• Love working outside in nature
• Ability to arrive on time and stay until the end of the event and feedback meeting
• Kind to youth, staff, and the community
• Ability to spend up to a full day standing, hiking or leading groups across uneven surfaces
outside up to 2 miles
• Valid NM State driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to lift 25 lbs. periodically
• Ability to pass mandatory pre-employment screening, including fingerprint background check
• Ability to obtain 1st Aid/CPR training within 1 month of hire
Desired Qualifications and Abilities:
• Working knowledge of current trends in education, youth development, the conservation field,
social movements and/or climate change issues
• Knowledge of natural and cultural history of New Mexico and local environmental issues
• Experience developing and facilitating curriculum or lesson plans
• Multi-cultural experience appreciated
